More of My Story

Here is just another unedited snippet of my writing.

I had ran... I didn't care that my car was left at the hospital. I just ran. I ended up somewhere with lots of trees, barely thinking or feeling. I couldn't breathe very well, so I sat against a tree and curled my knees up to my chest.

After a few minutes, the water works came. That's right. Tears that had been locked up since I was eight. I cried mostly for my mom... The sight of her bloody body connected to tubes and wires scared me more than anything. She was all I had left until some stupid guy ran a red light. I cried and cried and cried.

My tears eventually dried up, and I somehow fell asleep.

"Lily?" Demetri's voice was soft, but I hadn't wanted to talk to him about it yet.

My eyes fluttered open to see his big purple ones looming over me.

"Hey," he said, "I heard what happened." The whole town probably had.

"Yeah," I said flatly,"I, uh... I saw her. She looked pretty bad." I hiccuped and looked way.

He helped me up, then hugged me. I sort of stood there stiffly. When I didn't hug him back, he resorted to rubbing my arm softly, and wiping away the fresh tears that coated my cheeks.

"Everything will be okay," he soothed, being the opposite of helpful.

I moved away from him slightly and looked into the distance. "No its not," I told him bluntly, "She was all I had..."

He closed the space and wrapped his arms around me. Suddenly, my feet were off the ground! We were flying! I couldn't believe it! We were flying straight up into the trees and towards the sun!

"Demetri!" I shrieked, horrified.

Then, we stopped. He set me down on a large tree branch. I willed myself not ot look down.

"Uh, Lily, there is something that I want to talk to you about," he said nervously.

"What the hell was that!? How did we get up here? Seriously, this isn't funny!" I had started a rampage. I was upset that he was doing this to me right after, well...

He held up a hand to stop me. "Listen," he started, "this might not be the best time, but I really need to tell you." He inhaled deeply, "I. Am. A. Fairy."

Silence...

"What!? Look, I'm not exactly in a mood for jokes and pranks! You really suck at cheering people up. God, why are you doing this to me!?" By that point, I was so mad at Demetri, that I really didn't want to talk to him for a while, but since I was sort of stuck in the tree, I didn't have very many options.

"I'm not trying to be funny, and I swear that I'm not crazy or anything, but I am a fairy. Look," he then jumped off the tree branch, and stayed in the air. Then he was gone and back again, in exactly the same position, like he had gone invisible for a split second.

I was in such shock. I didn't understand how he was doing it. All the fantasy novels were going to my head, yet the only possibly solution was absurd!

"What else? How about I make the tree sing? Or, I know. Watch." He didn't wave a wand, or say an incantation, or anything, but soon there was a fluffy white cloud floating right in front of me.

After that, I fainted but was caught by the impossibly sturdy yet soft cloud. I woke up a few minutes later by Demetri shaking my shoulder.

"How did you do that?" I demanded.

"Fairy magic," he answered smiling, knowing that I was going to accept it.

I sighed,"This is impossible. Why me? Why today?" The cloud was slowly floating us to the ground, and the knowledge was floating through my head. Demetri was a fairy...
