Another Part!!

OK! So it looks like we got a random piece here that I am just going to copy and paste... Its not edited so I apologize for bad grammar and blah blah blah. Its still pretty early in, but I skipped a little. So here we go!!

The next morning, at about 5:30, I rolled out of bed and slipped on some jogging shorts, my trainers, and a jogging bra. I was really into exercise, mainly because it was a good distraction, and I loved the free feeling of running. Not that the toning sucked either. In fact, I was rather proud of my tight tummy, and muscular body.

I was surprised to see Sheryl wide awake at the table, by herself, drinking coffee. “Good morning,” she said warmly. The yelling from last night briefly crossed my mind before I pushed it away, knowing I wouldn’t have the courage to ask about it.

“Good morning,” I replied smiling. “I’m just going to go for a quick run,” I said. She nodded, taking in my appearance. I adjusted the arm band that held my iPod and some cash.

“Have fun,” she said. I smiled again and left, pulling my hair into the elastic on my wrist. This was going to be an easy adjustment. I ran down the driveway, and turned right. I kept running, moving past other houses that were already up and conquering the day.

An hour later, I was in a random gas station, breathing heavy. I picked out a Diet Coke, Snickers bar, and a tabloid magazine that I had always been forbidden to read. A lady with bright red hair who smelled badly of smoke rang me up. She kept smiling and staring at me. I was a little confused until she cleared her throat.

“So, you must be Shy Pewitt,” she said, counting out my change. Of course, this town was so small she probably knew everyone, and I was a celebrity’s daughter. My arrival was not going to go unnoticed. I cringed at this thought.

“Um, I guess,” I said slowly, looking at her with a slightly annoyed expression that she didn’t seem to notice.

“Well, welcome to Munday Sugar! I’m Kathy. You just let me know if you need anything, and I’ll take care of it, ok love?” her terms of endearment were sickening. She was also holding my bag hostage until I agreed.

“Thanks,” I said smiling my mom’s best fake smile. She handed me the plastic bag and patted my shoulder as I left quickly.

I walked quickly to a nearby park and sprawled out on the grass, flipping open the magazine and opening the Diet Coke. The magazine was loaded with information and names that I actually knew rather well. There was a story about my mom in it even. It was all about her holding hands with some random stranger. I also knew this story, only the version that I got was that my mom had bumped into him while shopping in New York, and he had shaken her hand. Of course the press would take it to extremes. Not that I thought it was that bad. Especially compared to the one about Missy Taylor; her dress had ripped while at a movie premier and exposed her underwear, and well… Let’s not talk about what the magazine claimed…

As I was biting into the candy bar, a shadow blocked the sun from view. When I looked up, a boy was staring at me, and talking, although I had no idea what he was saying because my iPod was blaring. I took the headphones off. “What?” I asked him.

He looked at me for a second, and then laughed. “Wow, I uh, didn’t notice the headphones,” he said. I smiled nervously. I had even less experience in the boy department than anything else, and I was suddenly aware that I wasn’t wearing a shirt.

“Hey, I’m Jake, Jake Lewis,” he said with confidence. I raised my eyebrows. Clearly he was experienced in the girl department.

“I’m --”

“Shy Pewitt, right?” he cut me off. My nervousness turned to irritation.

“Good guess,” I said, looking back down to the magazine. He sat down next to me, looking over my shoulder. I hated when people read over my shoulder like that.

“You’re staying at the Garrisons’ place, right?” He asked. I’m sure he could have answered this question better than me.

“Yep,” I said without looking up, flipping the page. He whistled lightly, and ran a hand through his hair. I finally looked at him.

He was really cute. Sweaty at the moment, tan, with light blonde hair and blue eyes. His smile revealed white even teeth with a dimple in his left cheek. But he kept asking stupid questions.

“So you are staying for junior year?”

“Yep,” He even knew I was going to be a junior. Creepy. That meant he was also going to be a junior.

“Did you get here yesterday?” God, he was dumb.

“Yep,” I stood up. I didn’t have time for stupid boys. I deposited my empty bottle and candy wrapper in the garbage can, and then flicked through the magazine again before dumping that too. He stood up as I put my headphones in.

“Well, I guess I’ll see you around?”

“Yep,” I said for the fourth time, taking off, running back to ‘The Garrisons’ Place’.
